The Korean Association of Child Studies was initiated in 1979 to become a forum to exchange research results and professional knowledges about children to better their lives rather than just regarding them as little people that need to be attended. Since then, the association has grown to become an organization with 1,500 scholars and child specialists as members. They are broadening their understanding of children and sharing their practical experiences.
The association holds biannual academic conventions in spring and autumn for the exchange of our research findings. It also publishes "Korean Journal of Child Studies", an academic journal registered at the Korea Research Foundation, bimonthly delivering our members' academic achievements in timely manner.
Our contribution has raised the interest in children to academic level and developed the study of children as a systemic science. However, I believe that we need multidisciplinary approach to child study by exchanging more actively with related fields of study and broadening our boundaries. Especially, the association needs to answer the needs of this generation that asks science to be more practical by focusing more on the activities that can help children in needs. The door is open. Not just for the members, but for everybody who wants to improve the quality of our children' lives, and help them live sound and healthy lives in this society. Please give your attention and support. Thank you very much.
